Title

To select a job function, check off the desired function. To select multiple functions, check off all the desired functions. If you would like to select an entire category, i.e. Finance, just check off Finance and all sub categories will automatically be selected.

If you would like to search by a custom title keyword, first click the Title Keyword tab. Then, type the desired keyword (such as media). Multiple terms can be included by using "or" as a separator (ex: media or online or internet).

All searches are wildcard searches by default and you should not enter *'s or other special characters. For example, if you enter the term "media" into the Job Title field under the Job Function / Title Keyword section, you will get results that include: "Media Relations Manager", "Manager, Digital Media", and "Vice President Group Media Director".

You can also use quotes to find a title containing an exact term. For example, you can enter the term "Director of Marketing" leaving the quotes around it. This means that your results have to contain titles that include the phrase Director of Marketing. If you don't use the quotes, you will see titles such as Director, Marketing and Marketing Director.

On the right, select one or multiple job levels. These correspond to a contact's position in their company hierarchy. Unchecked, by default, you are searching across all job levels.

Industry

To select an industry, check off the desired industry. To select multiple industries, check off all the desired industries. If you would like an entire category, i.e. Healthcare, just check off Healthcare and all sub categories will automatically be selected.

If you would like to search by SIC codes, hit the SIC Code tab. To select a SIC code, check off the desired code. To select multiple SIC codes, check off all the desired codes. If you would like an entire category, i.e. 65 Real Estate, just check off 65 Real Estate and all sub categories beneath 65 Real Estate will automatically be selected.

If you don't know the SIC Code for the type of company you are looking for, you can search through all SIC Codes by keyword. To search SIC Codes, enter the keyword that you are searching for, i.e. furniture, in the SIC Code Lookup by Keywords search box and click on the magnifying glass. A new window will open showing all SIC Codes that contain the keyword that you entered. Select the SIC Codes you want by checking them off then click the Add Selected SIC Code button to add them to your search. If you would like all SIC Codes listed, check the Select All box and then click the Add Selected SIC Code button to add them to your search. The new window will close and your chosen SIC codes will be selected on the search page. You may enter more than one keyword in the search box. The search will return only SIC codes containing ALL words that you enter so more words will bring fewer results. Punctuation and minor words such as "and" will be ignored. The order of the words you enter does not matter.

You can choose to check or uncheck the Include Primary SIC Codes Only check box at the bottom of the SIC Code section. Checking the box allows you to search for contacts at companies whose primary sources of revenue are the specific codes that you have selected. Unchecking the box allows you to view contacts whose companies primary or secondary source of revenue match the SIC Codes that you have selected.

In addition to checking off the SIC codes that you are interested in, you can also upload a file containing them. You'll need to be on the SIC code tab, and then select browse beneath the SIC code listing to upload your file. The file must be in CSV format, and must contain just SIC codes. The codes can be two digits, four digits, 6 digits, 8 digits, or any combination of SIC codes. The feature comes in handy when you are working with the same set of SIC codes often.

Company Size

Use the Revenue field to search for contacts based on the annual revenue of their organization. Leaving it blank will return all organizations regardless of their revenue. You can use just the Minimum (Min) field, just the Maximum (Max) or both.

The input is based on millions. Example: Enter in 5 for $5,000,000 and 500 for $500,000,000.

Use the Employee Count field to search for contacts at companies with a specific employee size. Leaving it blank will return all organizations regardless of their employee count. You can use just the Minimum (Min) field, just the Maximum (Max) or both. Example: Enter in 75 for 75 employees and 10000 for 10,000 employees.

Leave the check box next to Include contacts with an unknown company size checked if you would like to include contacts that work for organizations that have not reported their revenue or employee count. If you don't wish to view these contacts, you can uncheck the box.

Use the Fortune 1000 selector to include contacts at any location of a company on the most recent Fortune Magazine list of the 1000 largest American companies ranked by revenues. Note, because NetProspex data includes multiple contacts at multiple locations, the resulting list may include many more than 1000 records, depending on what other criteria you use.

Location

By default, you will always search contacts within the United States and Canada. You can narrow down your results by using cities, states/provinces, zip codes, and metro regions.

To search within a specific city you can enter the city name in the Include these city names field (ex: Boston). You can enter in multiple cities by using a comma as a separator (ex: Boston,Chicago). If you are looking for a city which might be in multiple states, such as Springfield, make sure you enter the city in the text box and check off the appropriate state in the pick-list below. Please note that when using the city search field, you must also select a state/province.

To search for contacts within the United States or Canada, make sure the appropriate country is selected/deselected. You can expand both the United States and Canada to select and deselect states and provinces as needed.

When using a city and state, you can also use the Radius field. The Radius field allows you to find contacts not only within the city and state that you selected, but within 5, 30, or 50 miles around that city. Make sure that you select both the radius check box and the correct mileage.

By clicking the Postal/Area Code tab you can search for contacts based what postal codes or area codes they are based out of. You can either define one postal code or area code (ex: 02451) or multiple (02451,02452,02472,02134) with a comma separating them.

You can also search on Metro Regions, which are the largest U.S. cities and their surrounding communities.

Company

Company Name Search
To search by company name, enter all or part of the name of the company you are searching for in the Company search box and click on Company Lookup search button. Companies with names containing what you entered will appear.

Select the companies you want by clicking on them and then click the Add Selected Companies button to add them to your search. To choose multiple companies, hold down CTRL and click (Windows) or hold down Command and click (Mac).

Once you have added your selected companies to your search, the search window will close and your selected companies will be shown on the Company Name tab of the Search page. You may add additional criteria at this point or submit your search. To remove a company name from your search, click the company name(s) that you wish to delete, and click on the Remove selected company link.

Website URL Search
To search by the website address (URL) of a company, click the Company URL tab, and type in the website address in the box below (ex: www.microsoft.com).

If you have a CSV file with a list of company URLs, click Choose File and upload your CSV file. The only column in the file must be the URL column. Your other search criteria will still be applied to the search.

Top Level Domain Search
To search by the top level domain of the website of a company (the part after the ".", for example, ".com" or ".gov."), click on the Top Level Domain tab and check one or more of the supplied checkboxes. You may also enter additional top level domains such as those for countries or other less common top level domains.

Please note: Company Name, Company URL and Top Level Domain searches cannot be used together in a single search. Only criteria entered on the active tab (the one left visible when your search is submitted) will be used in your search. Other criteria such as Location, Industry, etc. may be used, however, of course.

Sales & Marketing Intelligence

The Sales & Marketing Intelligence options allow users to search for contacts whose organizations use the technology selected. If you do not already have access to these options, contact our sales team to get more information at 888-826-4877.

People Search

You can use the People Search to look up a contact by the person's name (Ex: John Smith, Smith, or J Smith). You can search for one person at a time within this field.

Options

Use the fields within Options to ensure that the contacts you are searching for have an email address, a phone number, or both by checking off Require email address and/or Require phone.

Suppression file / Finding net-new contacts

Upload a suppression file (a CSV file containing ONLY email addresses or email domains) of contacts that you do not want to see in your search results. Regardless of your search criteria, if the contact's email address or email domain is contained on the suppression file, you will not receive that contact in your search results.

Hit Select a File underneath Exclude the following email addresses to upload your suppression file. You can upload up to 100 files into the system. You can choose to use a file for just one search, or set it as a default so that you use it for every search. You can also suppress multiple files at once if needed.
